I am a freelance writer, editor and educator who specializes in writing services and workshops for individuals, groups and small business.
In addition to my freelance work, I write a weekly column on midlife, marriage and family for the EW Scripps newspaper The Record Searchlight. For more than ten years, I have taught writing and communication courses through the California State University, private technical and vocational colleges, and the community college system. Currently I am an adjunct faculty member at Shasta College in Redding where I teach Communication.
Formerly an educational consultant with a Sacramento-based advocacy firm, I also have extensive experience designing and delivering live and web-based training to all levels of K-12 and community college school district personnel. Other training clients include The California Department of Fish & Game, San Jose Walk For AIDS, Shasta County Department of Social Services, The Training Source, and The Shasta Regional Community Foundation.
In 2010, I founded the Shasta County Voices from Inside creative writing workshop to bring the literary arts and craft of writing to incarcerated women. The workshop consists of modules on poetry, fiction, essay and memoir and follows a read/model/write format. Our first anthology of workshop writings is in production and scheduled for release in the of Spring 2012.
I live with my husband and mischievous cat Hobo in a valley nestled between two prominent peaks in Northern California.
